I recently have had some lower-back issues, so have had to re-think my sitting practices. I got this pillow as a bed-reader, to be more supportive of my back.In terms of back support, it isn't in the same league as a specifically lumbar support pillow, but then again that would be difficult to use when lying down reading or watching tv in bed. This pillow I've found to be a good compromise. It does offer some support, and it's *very* comfortable. Extremely soft and luxurious. Definitely recommended.
